Could you give me some more examples of types of mental ill health?

Well if we leave aside the psychiatric type of things such as bipolar, PTSD, schizophrenia. People sometimes feel that they are coping with things like eating disorders, body dysmorphia, phobias, panic episodes are quite common and stress and anxiety of course and depression. I think when people recognise that they are behaving differently or feeling that they cannot cope, they might notice that they are eating more or less; they are paying real attention to what they eat. They are fearing the consequences of that or they might be self-harming, that can be as simple as cutting or burning, or they can really harm themselves. Panic episodes are quite common because they are associated with lots of different types of stress. They can be helped by various techniques, but they are quite frightening to experience. Other people have irrational thoughts; their minds automatically go to something frightening or horrifying to them. Lack of sleep is a good pointer that something is going on. There are lots of different symptoms and signs. It is noticing that things are not right with you. The things that you would normally deal with quite easily, you cannot. For whatever reason you cannot think straight; you cannot work out a course of action for yourself.
